The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) announced its intention to designate a new Marine Park at Kiu Tsui (Sharp Island), in Port Shelter, and provided details of the intended management plan on 10 June 2026. The proposal to the Country and Marine Parks Board outlines a 63 ha Marine Park comprising of two areas encompassing the main coral communities to the west and east of the island.

Declares to Protect and Conserve Hong Kong’s Marine Waters with Their Joint Power. Asking for 30% of Local Waters to be Gazetted as Marine Protected Areas by 2030.
